KB928089: KB 928089
Posted By: Arcane ElitistWhile the phishing filter in Internet Explorer 7 evaluates a webpage’s contents, one’s computer may respond extremely slowly or otherwise freeze up.
The phishing filter in Internet Explorer 7 helps to protect users against illegitimate websites with malicious intent posing as authentic websites. While the phishing filter examines some sites, one’s computer may crawl to a near or complete halt. The problem primarily occurs on websites having many frames or when a user browses many frames at the same time or within a short period of time. Because Internet Explorer 7 evaluates the entire webpage being viewed at the same time when one frame is browsed, CPU usage may be very high.
It is recommended that users experiencing this issue visit Microsoft or Windows Update in order to obtain the fix.
To download the update without using Windows or Microsoft Update, please see the proceeding depending upon your operating system.
