A laptop computer with a Mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset may not awake from sleep mode with Windows Vista.

A rare condition in the ATAportDeviceBusy function of the chipset has a problem. This function is used by the ATA miniport driver to pause the device queues of the ATAport driver. This pause behavior can cause the computer to stop responding indefinitely. Apparently, this problem only occurs with the Microsoft AHCI chipset driver and not the Intel AHCI chipset driver.

A hotfix has been provided by Microsoft to correct this issue. They suggest only installing this hotfix if the computer has the Mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset with Vista and is experiencing this problem. To obtain this hotfix, utilize the following link:
